When we start designating bulbs as spring, summer or fall bulbs it can become very confusing as to what the use of the various seasons actually indicates.
Fall flower bulbs can refer both to planting time and also to the season in which flowering occurs.
If we are talking about planting then we have the various Dutch bulbs in mind such as tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, crocus and a long list of others commonly planted in the fall.
If flowering is the subject then fall flowering bulbs such as the autumn crocus or magic lily are just two of several bulbs that we are referring to.
Spring bulbs also can indicate both planting and flowering species. If we are discussing planting then cannas and dahlias are a couple of good examples with the Dutch bulbs covering the flowering topic of spring bulbs.
Now generally speaking when the subject of summer flower bulbs pops up almost always we have flowering in mind.
