Sedum

All varieties of sedum have been favorites of mine for many years as they are attractive and almost carefree.

Selections can be made from varieties growing only a few inches in height to two and a half feet and sporting foliage colors such as lime-green, blue, various variegations and numerous shades of green.

Sedum matrona

Flower colors include:

  • white
  • pink
  • yellow
  • orange-yellow
  • rose-pink
  • crimson-red
  • rose-red
  • yellow-green
  • rosy-salmon
  • carmine pink
  • purplish-pink
  • creamy-rose
  • coppery-red
  • violet-purple

This family of choice plants likes locations featuring full sun and its hardy well into the northern states.

Use it as a ground cover, in a trough, rock or alpine garden; some varieties make excellent hanging baskets either planted alone or in combination with other plants, or how about using one of the tall sedums as a specimen plant.

How much more can you ask from any plant family?
