Perennial Flowers

In my opinion perennial flowers offer so much for the home gardener, professional landscape designer and anyone seeking unusual plant foliage, and unique bloom form.

Perennials have the ability, with a little extra care, to return year after year.

Many times when I have the pleasure presented to me I find joyin walking through well established gardens and noticing the various perennial varieties that a knowledgeable home owner or designer have selected to beautify the landscape.

Perennials are definitely making a grand appearance in my part of the country as they are starting to be used much more often.

It’s hard to say why the upper Sunbelt region, namely Oklahoma, has lagged behind in the use of perennials until recently.

At least a partial reason has to do with most local suppliers offering only a very limited number of varieties and sometimes not the best of species have found their way to the market place.

Oklahoma has numerous wonderful sites to visit but a good botanical garden has not to date been developed in the Sooner state.

When we want to tour a well thought out facility it is necessary for us to visit one of the surrounding states as they all offer outstanding public and private gardens.

The best advise that we can offer you is to study what perennial specialists have to offer and make your purchases from them.

Be sure to ask any questions that you may have and inform them in regards to the exposure of your beds and the flower colors that you are searching for.

Good luck and enjoy using ornamental flowers in your home landscape.
