Native Grasses

The United States was once covered with millions upon millions of acres of native grasses that reached heights from only a few inches to over several yards.

As our country was settled the plow began to clear these natural stands in the name of agriculture and today we continue to infringe on what little remains to develop housing additions, shopping centers and other so called improvements.

Some outstanding grasslands still remain and if you have not had the pleasure of visiting, for example, a Tallgrass Prairie then I would suggest that you take the time to see what America once so proudly displayed.

Untouched native stands are still available for one to view in a number of states with excellent examples coming to mind in Kansas, Oklahoma and Nebraska.
