Achillea – Milfoil, Yarrow
Establish in full sun.

Plant heights vary from six inches to three and one half feet.
Many varieties can be used as effective and showy ground covers.
Very good ground cover in sunny to semi shade areas. If you live in the Sunbelt this plant will require more shade than sun.
White flowers usually appear in June.
Spreads by underground stolons.
Grows six to ten inches in height with a spread of twelve inches.
Hardy into zone 3.
Alcea – Hollyhock
Great old-time garden favorite.
Various colors available as follows: Yellow, copper, pink, red, white, maroon, rose, scarlet and maroon-black.
Many varieties hardy into zone 3.
Grows from 30 inches and up to eight feet tall.
Both single and double flowering selections available.
Hummingbirds love this one.
Thrives in full sun to partial shade.
Bletilla – Hardy Orchid
Hardy as far north as zone 6.
White and bright pink forms available. Green sword-like foliage.
Grows one to two feet tall by one foot wide.
Best in full sun to partial shade.
Coronilla – Crownvetch
Super ground cover when used to stop erosion.
Pinkish-white flowers.
Two feet tall by three feet wide.
Hardy to zone 4.
Vigorous in full sun to partial shade.
We have been told that crownvetch is fire resistant.
