Garden Ponds

For the last decade garden ponds have been the fastest growing area in the horticulture industry.

Perhaps a better name for this beautiful accent to any landscaping style would have to be water gardens.

Formal Garden Pond

Many home owners have opted to have professionals design and install the water feature of their dreams.

However, with a little research, you are capable of developing your very own water garden design and installing it yourself by purchasing a garden pond kit.

Yes you can tackle this project complete with water falls, filters and fish.

Don’t worry about a pond kit limiting your design options as most suppliers will allow you to customize your kit and therefore there are no short comings to be found with this purchase.

When you build a water garden remember that this is the time to add all of the features such as incorporating a bog garden at one or more of the outside edges.

Bog gardens tend to be rather shallow and thus will allow the successful planting of exotics such as pitcher, spider plants and numerous other varieties.

Bog gardens are very interesting and you may find them even more enjoyable than the main water garden.

Water and Bog Garden

Your taste however, may drift more towards a formal koi pond and gardens which is a good selection.

Now for the bad news which is; water gardens do require a good deal of care in order to keep them fairly clear and looking great.

So be prepared to either do your own water garden maintenance or hire an experienced company to tackle this chore for you.
