Coral Bells also known as Heuchera sanguinea have become extremely popular with gardeners everywhere.
They form neat mounds, above which rise airy spikes of small blooms.
This desirable family boasts flower colors including:
cream
red
pink
pink and white bicolor
white
vermillion
The flowers are rivaled only by the rather large range of foliage colors which vary from:
green
silvery-blue
purple-maroon
caramel-gold with red reverse
bright lime yellow-green
reddish-purple
almost black
light green with creamy variegation
silver-sheened with touches of lavender
These plants are great for cutting, and they attract bees into your garden.
They are commonly used as a groundcover, particularly in borders, and along pathways. They are also attractive in rock gardens.
New varieties appear almost yearly and why not with the hardiness range starting as far north as zone 3 for many varieties and adaptable from full sun to partial shade.
I have found in the upper sunbelt region that many varieties prefer at least some shade in order to prevent scorching the foliage but that’s not to say that there are not some that will thrive in full sun.
Also I love the fact that many are evergreen and offer interest during the winter months.
