Yes that’s correct it is only a container that keeps its contents from spilling. Now you will do the hard work which is to turn the contents over from time to time.

You may be thinking that if a unit is only a container why should I shell out hard earned money for one when I can probably rig one up. This is true if you can build one yourself; actually all you really need is a small corner in your back yard with supports that will keep your deposits in place and where you have adequate room to stir or turn over the pile as required.

There are several labor saving devices available where all you have to do is turn a handle in order to redistribute the contents so that various bacteria can do their work in an effective manner; which is to break down the deposits that you have placed inside into useable compost.

These mechanical devices are well worth the money and will finish compost in rapid fashion. They can make turning of the pile so easy that you almost will never fail to accomplish this feat.
