On a visit to beautiful Maui I was impressed with the large white calla lilies that were being used and enjoyed in many gardens on this island paradise.
What really caught my attention about these lilies was the large size and glistening white color of the flowers.
I had been growing white Callas in our flower beds in Oklahoma but had always been disappointed with the flower size but was glad to see them return each year.
In zone 6B, as mentioned above, the White Calla Lilies have proved to be extremely hardy and I have not been burdened by being forced to dig and store the bulbs over winter.
However, the other Calla Lily colors have not shown to be hardy in my zone.
Calla Lilies are available in several colors such as:
gold
orange
burgundy
lilac
pink
red
almost black
white
There is a white variety that is now on the market which is listed as large flowering white and I suggest that you give it a try as you may be pleasantly surprised by its size where you garden.
Try the other colors as well but be prepared to harvest them in the fall or purchase new ones each year.
