Average Frost Dates
The following table shows the the average frost dates for North America. This information is based upon the USDA charts and does not take into consideration micro-climates such as exposure and altitude. During the night cold air sinks to the lowest spots in the terrain. Another factor is wind. If there is little or no wind during a frost or freeze, the chances of plant damage increases. This is due to the lack of warmer air mixing with the colder air, thus allowing the colder air to sink to the surface. Larry recommends that if your plants get a frost, try rinsing off the frost in the morning before the sun hits the leaves. This may reduce the chance of "burning" of the plant tissue.
